Project Description
The predominant energy used for cooking in Tanzania is biomass: wood, charcoal and animal dung. The use of such fuels is costly for Tanzanians in financial, health, ecological and environmental terms. The result is a greater proportion of household income being spent on energy, as well as health problems from the breathing of the smoke fumes and increased deforestation and CO2 emissions.
energy4everyone provided a loan, via E+Co, to Afrozone, a LPG entrepreneur located in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania to enable Afrozone to grow its LPG distribution business, with a view to increasing the market share of LPG in the broader energy market in Tanzania. Thus decreasing the country’s reliance on biomass and therefore helping to generate economic benefit for users.
Positive Impact
The funds provided to Afrozone allowed it to grow its business and contributed towards the purchase of additional LPG cylinders, distribution trucks, the establishment of new franchises and an educational awareness program.
