SOLAR OVENS

In many countries, the ability for people to access supply of modern forms of energy for cooking can be difficult, if not impossible. Where modern energy can be accessed, the cost of such energy can be very expensive and comprise a large percentage of a family’s income. Therefore, people are often left with little or no choice but to use wood or charcoal. However, the increased effectiveness of solar ovens now provides such communities with a third option; one that costs no money for its ongoing use.

Because solar ovens are powered by the sun, there are no fuel costs or smoke emissions when used. Therefore, solar ovens have no operating costs and have none of the health risks associated with wood ovens or charcoal stoves. In addition, the time that was previously used to collect wood to use as a cooking fuel can now be used for economic and educational activities.
